Skirting

Skirting is the panelling that closes the gap between the bottom of a manufactured home and the ground. It is usually vinyl, and sometimes metal, wood or masonry.
It does more than improve the look. Skirting keeps out animals and debris, helps protect plumbing and insulation under the floor from cold and moisture, and stops wind from getting underneath the home.
Skirting needs to be ventilated so moisture does not build up beneath the floor. Underwriters often ask whether it is in place and in good repair, because missing or damaged skirting can expose the undercarriage to wind, pests and frozen pipes.
Common questions
Does missing skirting affect my insurance?
It can. Some carriers ask about it and may charge more or require repair, because an open underside is more vulnerable to wind and freezing.
